Wildomar, California – A wildfire was reported on October 26, 2017, around 1229 hours PDT in the area of Off Road Park, Los Alamos Truck Trail and South Main Drive . The fire is located south of Lake Elsinore (Riverside County) in the Wildomar area. It is additionally located on the Trabuco Ranger District.
The cause was due to a collision.
Fire Status – The wildfire remains at 850 acres but containment has increased to 75% on the northern perimeter after successful Friday night operations.
Saturday, crews were tasked with working on strengthening the containment lines on the southern and eastern perimeters.
Fire behavior has been reduced to minimal activity with light winds from 5-8 mph and an increase of higher humidity levels. These conditions always aid firefighters suppression efforts and containment percentages.
Estimated containment is expected by Monday, October 30, 2017.
Resources – There are 969 fire personnel, 5 helos, 118 engines, 5 air tankers, 35 overhead personnel, 43 crews, 7 water tenders and 6 bulldozers and 1 helitender. Fire Command is in Unified Command system with the USFS – Cleveland NF and CAL FIRE – Riverside unit.
Evacuations – Repopulation of the La Cresta community began at 1800 hours on Friday, October 27th. Rec areas around the fire area have been closed, while the Wildomar OHV and campground with be closed indefinitely. There is no word if it will be reopened anytime in the future or not.
All evacuation orders have been lifted.
